What Mold Inspectors and Remediation companies don't want you to know.

There are many myth about mold and a lot of miss-information spreading around. The media has jumped on the Mold band wagon which has caught the publics attention and awareness about mold. Black Toxic Mold is the most common description of some of the dangerous types.  Other companies are cashing in on the fears of toxic mold and making big money in the process.

Testing for mold is a very expensive process. I know, I'm a certified mold inspector. Taking air samples to determine you have mold in your house can cost several hundreds or thousands of dollars. To be honest with you, all this testing will do is tell you that you have a mold problem and it will identify the type of mold. It won't even tell you where the mold is unless it is visible.  However, you just spent a wad of money to tell you what you probably already knew. You've Got Mold. Now that you know you have mold you will most likely need a professional Mold Remediation company remove the mold. If you thought the cost of testing for mold is expensive, you haven't see nothing yet. Mold remediation can cost you thousands and thousands of dollars.

The truth is, you don't need to know the species of mold for you to know you have mold. What you do need is the proper method to get rid of the mold.

Consumers that don't want to pay the price for a professional to test and remove mold will attempt to do it themselves.  I hear from many people that all you have to do is to use bleach to clean up the mold.  This information usually comes from realty agents to lessen the impact when mold is discovered during the home inspection process. Using Bleach is a dangerous way to attempt to clean up mold. The fumes of bleach can cause other health issues. The bleach isn't strong enough to kill the mold roots that are deep in the material of which it is growing. If the mold is not properly cleaned up it will grow again causing you the frustration and expense of cleaning it again and possibly replacing the material it is growing on.
